Scientist/Sr. Scientist - Immunology

Prellis Biologics employs proprietary technology to 3D print lymph node organoids, which we are using to generate in vitro antibody libraries, camelid antibody libraries, in vitro human immunogenicity screening, and in vitro human tumor/lymph node cocultures for therapeutic screening. Prellis’ ability to print and culture healthy human tissue provides it with unique opportunities for generating and evaluating next-generation human therapeutics.

Prellis is looking for an enthusiastic Immunologist to make critical contributions to our growing in vitro immune system platform.

Essential Functions:

In Prellis’ fast-paced, small business environment, the successful candidate will:

  • Develop and execute in vitro assays in support of Prellis’ proprietary EXIS ex vivo immune system.

  • Make strong intellectual contributions to in vitro immune process development and antigen/antibody biomolecular engineering.

  • Interact effectively with scientists, engineers, and partners from a wide variety of disciplines.

  • Provide leadership and training for B.S. and M.S. scientists.

Preferred Experience and Education:

The successful hire is an immunologist who:

  • Has a Ph.D. in immunology or relevant field with 2-5 years of industry experience.

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of adaptive immunology, in particular B and T Cell Biology

  • Strong understanding of cell-cell interactions, and ligand-receptor signaling pathways

  • Excellent experimental design and analysis skills

  • Strong communication and data presentation skills, including the ability to articulate clear experimental goals and understanding of model limitations

  • Proficiencies

  • Primary cell isolation and culture

  • Extensive experience with Flow Cytometry, including panel design, data collection, analysis and troubleshooting

  • Familiarity with immunoglobulin sequence formats and engineering

  • In vitro assay design and execution

  • Analysis of large, complex data sets.

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong communication, computer, collaboration, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills

Other Requirements:

Candidates should be:

  • Able to relocate to the Bay Area as needed

  • Detailed, methodical experimentalist

  • Enthusiastically willing to work in lab 60-80% of the time

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of cancer biology and systems immunology

  • Project management skills

  • Proficiencies:

                - Bioinformatic analysis of proteins and sequences

                - Basic skills related to writing, running and troubleshooting Python code

                - Molecular biology techniques

                - Laboratory systems development and implementation

  • Software: FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, Google Suite

  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional team environment

  • Strong writing/presenting skills
