The spiral vascular tissue chip [EDK Hyperdrive] is a 3D printed structure that consists of a 380 micron (inner diameter) straight vascular channel surrounded by a 300 micron (inner diameter) spiraling vascular network. The straight channel and the spiraling channel have a separate inlet and outlet that are compatible with luer adapted blunt needles. The shared wall surface area between the curved and straight tubes is 1 mm² with an average thickness of 60 microns of low density PEGDA. The flow system is designed to be secured in a bioreactor chip sold separately. The EDK Hyperdrive allows for the study of oxygen and nutrient exchange across cell-lined blood vessel walls and provides a convenient proxy for vascular barrier perfusion.
