Prellis Biologics employs proprietary technology to 3D print lymph node organoids, which we are using to generate in vitro antibody libraries, camelid antibody libraries, in vitro human immunogenicity screening, and in vitro human tumor/lymph node cocultures for therapeutic screening. Prellis’ ability to print and culture healthy human tissue provides it with unique opportunities for generating and evaluating next-generation human therapeutics.

Prellis is seeking a Laboratory Operations Manager with an emphasis on supply chain management and inventory control.


  • Act as point of contact for implementation and execution of lab operations strategy. Serve as liaison between researchers, vendors and other Prellis functions (Facilities, Procurement, EH&S) for successful implementation of lab operations strategy. Establish and maintain communication pathways and relationships with researchers, Facilities, IT, Procurement, vendors, and other functions and groups as necessary.

  • Responsible for defining space utilization and equipment placement. Provide support for planning and executing laboratory design, buildout, and relocation of equipment including validation of equipment where necessary. Represent lab operations and the needs of the researchers in lab construction and relocation projects.

  • Establish laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration schedule with working knowledge and application of all laboratory instrumentation to understand safe use, maintenance and calibration requirements. Maintain the equipment database to ensure accuracy, including maintenance and calibration schedules. Interface with vendors to ensure the best equipment performance through maintenance and calibration contracts/extended warranties while achieving optimal equipment uptime.

  • Act as safety officer in the absence of an EH&S coordinator. Maintain chemical inventories for the site and manage disposal of unused/expired chemicals and interact with waste disposal vendor as necessary in establishing appropriate waste streams. Maintain training records in accordance with local and or county guidelines, and drive laboratory safety with the appropriate lab owners.

  • Establish and maintain laboratory environmental monitoring.

  • Source and implement a change control system and administer in the absence of a quality coordinator.

  • Source and assist in the implementation of a Laboratory Information System (LIMS).

  • Maintains the inventory of laboratory supplies in coordination with the Purchasing Manager to assure a continuous and uninterrupted supply of materials for research and production activities. Overall responsibility for receiving, incoming inspection, material put-away, and asset tagging.

  • Provide supervision and direction to laboratory support personnel for daily activities. Train personnel on their daily activities. Provide input for goals and objectives as necessary, as well as performance feedback to personnel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Proven project management success hitting tasks in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Strong technical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with a demonstrated ability to maintain clear, accurate and up-to-date records.

  • Previous experience with Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is preferred.

  • Previous experience working within a laboratory that processes blood or human biologics and cell culture growth is required.

  • Familiarity with ISO, GMP/GLP regulatory compliance requirements is preferred.

  • Working within the framework of an electronic or paper-based quality management system (QMS).

Educational Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • 5-7 years’ experience as a laboratory manager or agent.

  • Experience using software and databases that support laboratory operations.

  • Supervisory experience is a must.

Physical Requirements:

  • This role is best served as being onsite, but can be part of a hybrid model.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs.

  • May require travel.
