Prellis Biologics employs 2-photon holography to print human tissues and organs in real time. Current applications of our platform include printing of lymph node organoids, which we are using to generate in vitro human antibody libraries, camelid antibody libraries, in vitro human immunogenicity screening, human primary tumor/lymph node co-cultures for therapeutic screening, and vaccine R&D. Prellis’ ability to print and culture healthy human tissue provides it with unique opportunities for generating and screening next generation human therapeutics.
Prellis Biologics is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer, Microfluidics to drive the research and development of next-generation human tissue development. This role requires microfluidics and chip-to-world interface experience. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in the lab, collaborating with cell biologists, and enjoys solving complex problems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and test microfluidic chip-to-world systems, such as interface bonding between different materials, development of cartridges, and integration of valves and pumps
Perform microfluidic and system calculations and simulations to inform design and test
Execute on microfluidic and systems CAD drawing
Integration of components such as microfluidics, soft material 3D scaffolds, fluidic systems, and cell biology
Keep rigorous documentation
Maintain up-to-date design rules
Collaborate with Biology and Engineering teams to test and troubleshoot problems
Basic cell biology assays including cell viability and simple imaging experiments
Ownership of failure analysis and development of metrology methods
Contribute to the generation of intellectual property
Skills and Experience:
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline. An excellent publication record is a strong plus
4+ years of hands-on experience designing and developing microfluidics and microfluidic systems for life sciences
Fundamental understanding of microfluidic flow and transport phenomenon
Experience with mammalian cell culture and sterility techniques, familiarity with basic molecular and cell biology
Experience with Tissue Engineering techniques
CAD software experience
Data-driven, proficient with design of experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis
Ability to communicate results, ideas, problems, and solutions to experts and non-experts within an interdisciplinary environment
