Essential Functions


We are looking for a Laboratory Manager to develop, implement and manage processes, systems, and inventory in a BSL2 tissue engineering laboratory. The successful candidate will manage lab operations in symbiosis with the scientific and engineering teams, supporting cell culture and molecular biology operations. 

  • Develops and implements of laboratory operations procedures and systems, including training and enforcing compliance

  • Manages procurement of laboratory supplies inventory, anticipating needed supplies

  • Collaborates cross-functionally across the organization to provide operations support

  • Supports novel solutions to unique technical problems

  • Ensures maintenance of laboratory equipment performance by developing troubleshooting procedures and coordinating service and repairs

  • Coordinates with safety officers to manage chemical, laser and biosafety measures in the laboratory

  • Design and execute experiments to test the appropriateness and functionality of new reagents or equipment

Preferred Experience and Education

The successful hire is a scientist or engineer with:

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in related discipline (cell biology, immunology, microbiology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, molecular biology, mechanical or electrical engineering with cell biology experience) 


Other Requirements

Candidates should be: 

  • Able to relocate to the Bay Area as needed

  • Enthusiastically willing to work in lab 80-100% of the time


Required Skills

  • Strong technical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with a demonstrated ability to maintain clear, accurate and up-to-date records

  • In depth knowledge of biological laboratory equipment and the operation of R&D laboratories

  • Proficiency in:

    • General maintenance of microscopes, scales, incubators, autoclaves and centrifuges

    • Making and maintaining buffers

    • Inventory of reagents, and common laboratory chemicals

  • Mammalian cell culture experience

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Self-motivated, flexible, able to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced & dynamic environment.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Prior experience in development and implementation of BSL2 R&D laboratory environments.

  • Proficiency in:

    • Designing and executing of experiments

    • Molecular biology techniques

    • Cell biology techniques

  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional team environment
